Beverages are a crucial part of keeping the participants of a road trip happy and hydrated. A good drink will help the driver and passengers stay alert at all times. No one wants a thirsty driver or a sleepy co-pilot (co-pilot- usually the shotgun passenger who is in charge of crucial decisions like music selection and directions) So that brings us to the question of what is your drink of choice for an extended car ride? I personally enjoy a tall can of Arizona original green tea. Not only is the drink humongous, it happens to be an amazing 99 cents! I mean come on, now adays a dollar wont get you very far in any aspect of life. The can fits nice and snug in all car cupholders and is universal to almost all gas stations and conveniant stores. I enjoy most of the arizona products but the original green tea with ginseng and honey is tried and true. It contains just the right amount of sugar to keep you going without giving you the jitters that are associated with coffee and energy drinks. It's also great for soothing a sore throat.
So lets here it, what is your beverage of choice for an extended car ride?

I think green tea is more of a hippie drink. I prefer something a little more corporate that shows how much I am controlled by the establishment. For these reasons and more, I'd like to state that nothing wets my whistle more than a delicious, original formula, Coca-Cola Classic.
That is an excellent point. Arizona products are sometimes referred to as "Scene Tea" and they def have a hippie reputation. Coca Cola is indeed a delicious classic
I enjoy green tea however it is certainly not the beacon of healthy living that its marketing design seems to suggest. It still contains high fructose corn syrup as well as other processed ingredients. In my opinion as far as road trip beverages are cocerned its all or nothing. If you want something healthy, stick with water. But, if one is looking for something to give the trip a little bit of a kick, go with the most potent-energy-heart-stopping-fuel that one can get their hands on. First drink that comes to mind; NOS.
Jitters without the jitters? That doesn't work.
Funny, I was going to mention the HFCS also - one of the main reasons I don't consume the copious amounts of Arizona that I used to. Perhaps a nice home brewed mate, green, or black tea? They can be flavored and iced to taste and shared with those you are traveling with and visiting.
My vote still goes to water, but if you need energy grab the most densely caffeinated beverage you can find. You'll quickly get on your travelmates bad side if you stop at every rest area because you chugged a tall venti grande chai latte.
When road tripping, I use to enjoy a thrist quenching gatorade usually glacier freeze, orange, or lemon lime, but recently I have come across a new favorite. This would be the great tasting and energizing AMP relaunch. The AMP relaunch is orange flavored and taste almost exactly like orange soda which is great. It also provides great energy to keep one from falling asleep while driving. The AMP relaunch also provides electrolytes and B vitamins so it doubles as a hangover cure.
On to the topic of elder and his drink of choice. While he does enjoy his water and herbal mate, he also uses caffeine pills to keep himself going since water provides little uplift when feeling sluggish on the road. This is why I believe the AMP relaunch is a great drink of choice. It not only provides great taste and essential electrolytes but it give the energy boost one needs to be a successful roadtrip driver and passenger.
For the record, I have not popped caffeine pills in over 2 (maybe 3) years. My junior year was rough so when driving 5hrs home after a week of minimal sleep they were sometimes a necessity. Taking a 200mg caffeine pill after drinking no soda, coke, etc for weeks will get you fucking wired, as Davey can attest.
haha i heard you have an addiction we should have an intervention
During our epic road trip from VA to MN Jenny and I consumed a shit ton of water/redbull. The redbull was more of a need than a want. Unfortunately it is not advisable to drink beer while driving...if it were my favorite road beverage would definitely be a Buddy Light.
